Beginning Wednesday, November 15th, WNC Pickleball Club will be expanding to NINE courts! More playing, more drilling, more fun!
Do you remember when you got your driver’s license? Your parents probably handed you the keys and gave you some version of, “Here you go. But remember: with more freedom, comes more responsibility.”
Well, that’s also the case here. We have to be more responsible in these three areas:
ONE: Make sure you don’t leave trash, empty water bottles, jackets, towels, banana peels or anything on the floor or the benches.
When we’re done at 12:30, there should be absolutely no indication we were ever there. Also, the ball buckets are for BALLS — not candy wrappers.
TWO: We’ll have to be a little more regimented in how and where we store our equipment, and how we set up and tear down our courts. I’ll get some input from the fine folks at Xcel as to how we can best accommodate them and their other activities at the venue.
We might be trying a few different scenarios to see what works best, so please be patient and feel free to give me your feedback and suggestions.
THREE: Drilling courts are for DRILLING.
In other areas like Arizona, Florida and Utah — where they have an abundance of dedicated pickleball courts — it’s easy for 4 people to start out drilling, then take a break by playing an actual game. The game becomes so much fun, they’ll want to play another, then another.
Before you know it, 2 hours have gone by with no drilling, but plenty of play between the same 4 people. All the other players are either waiting to play, or mixing in and out of games with everyone else.
Let’s all be conscious of that, so it doesn’t happen here.
See you on the courts — all NINE of them!
